What is the Mercosur visa?

For citizens of Mercosur Member States. Equivalent to Temporary Resident, valid for two years, with open work permit and the ability to accrue time toward Permanent Resident. Granted only once — applications must be complete and well-founded.

Who is the Mercosur visa for? (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador)

The Mercosur visa is for nationals of the Member and Associated States of the Mercosur Residence Agreement: Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. If you hold one of these nationalities, it is usually the fastest and most affordable residency route in Colombia.

Note: citizens of Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia may also consider the Andean Migrant visa, which is often more convenient.

The Mercosur visa, country by country

The core requirements are the same for everyone, but each country issues the documents differently. These are the details our clients ask about most:

• Argentina: criminal record certificate from RENAR, apostilled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the process can be completed online.
• Brazil: federal criminal record certificates issued digitally, apostilled by the competent Brazilian authority.
• Uruguay: judicial record certificate from the General Registry Directorate, with apostille.
• Paraguay: judicial and police record certificates, both apostilled.
• Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador: citizens may also consider the Andean Migrant visa; we compare both routes before filing.
